CardPointers vs CardStack (2026): Offers or Credits?
CardPointers optimises issuer offers with no bank login. CardStack detects statement credit usage from your transactions. Nearly the same price, opposite designs, here's which one fits.
Disclosure: we make OfferBee, which competes with CardStack. It appears only at the end. Everything below was checked against both companies' live sites on 2026-09-08.
These two cost almost exactly the same ($90/yr versus $89.99/yr) and are built on opposite premises. Choosing between them is not a value judgement, it's a diagnosis of where your money is leaking.
CardPointers answers "which card do I use, and are my offers activated?", with no bank login, ever. CardStack answers "did I actually use the credits I already paid for, and is this card worth its fee?", which requires reading your transactions.

The design split
CardPointers made a hard privacy commitment and built around it. Its homepage states it auto-adds offers for Amex, Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo and US Bank "without sharing your logins or any purchase history." That single constraint explains the whole product: it can tell you which card should earn most at a merchant, it can add offers, it can put a suggestion on your lock screen by location, and it can never tell you what you actually spent, because it doesn't know.
CardStack made the opposite call. With Plaid transaction access it can watch a charge post and mark the corresponding statement credit used. Its own notification copy is "$15 Uber Cash on The Platinum Card® was marked used for March 2026 from your statement." From there it can compute what a card really costs: annual fee minus credits actually captured.
Neither is a compromised version of the other. They're answers to different questions.
Where CardPointers wins
- No credentials. If that's a hard line, this comparison is already decided.
- Issuer breadth for offers. Six banks versus CardStack's Amex and Chase.
- AutoPilot. Location-aware best card on the lock screen. It takes fewer taps than anything else in the category, and it works at a physical register.
- Platform coverage. CardStack is iOS-only, per its own comparison table. That's a complete blocker for Android users, not a downgrade.
- Maturity. Offer expiry reminders, snoozing, customisable dashboard, nearby stores.
Where CardStack wins
- It closes the loop. Knowing which card to use is worth nothing if you never redeem the $200 airline fee credit you already paid for. CardStack is one of the few tools that confirms redemption rather than reminding you a benefit exists.
- Effective annual fee. The number that should decide keep-or-cancel, and almost nobody computes it.
- The notifications are correctly timed. "Credit available", "expires in 3 days", "annual fee just posted. Is it worth keeping?". Timing is the entire product in credit tracking.
- A free tier that demonstrates the product. Manual credit tracking, unlimited cards. CardPointers' one-card-per-type free plan can't hold a real premium wallet.
- Monthly billing. $12.99/mo means you can try a full cycle without committing a year.
Which leak is yours?
Run the numbers rather than the vibes.
Offers are upside. MaxRewards cites $662 in year one for its members; CardPointers claims most users save $750+. Those are real, but they're conditional; you have to shop where the offers are, and the amount scales with your spending.
Credits are money already spent. An Amex Platinum's $895 fee buys a fixed stack of credits with fixed reset dates. Miss the monthly $15 Uber Cash eleven times and you've donated $165 to Amex. That number doesn't depend on your spending patterns at all, only on whether you remembered.
A rough diagnostic:
- Heavy spender, few or no annual fees → your money is in offers and multipliers. CardPointers.
- Two or more premium annual-fee cards → your money is in credits. CardStack.
- Both → both, or read the next section.
- On Android → CardStack isn't available. CardPointers, or an alternative that ships on Android.
Can you run both?
Yes, and for a wallet with three premium cards it's often correct: about $180/yr total, which is still less than WalletFlo Pro's $230/yr for one app. There's no conflict: CardPointers never connects to anything, CardStack connects read-only through Plaid.
If $180 is too much, the deciding question is which number is bigger for you: offers you'd never have activated, or credits you'd have let expire. For most people carrying a premium card, it's the second.
A third option worth knowing about
If credit tracking is your answer but CardStack's iOS-only constraint rules it out or you want a longer look than 7 days before paying, OfferBee does the same job on iOS and Android: Plaid transaction sync, automatic credit detection, reminders before a credit resets, and a fee-vs-value verdict at each renewal. It's $9.99/mo or $80/yr on offerbee.ai ($12.99/mo or $104.99/yr if you subscribe through the App Store, which the app shows alongside it), with a 14-day trial that doesn't ask for a card, and manual credit tracking on cards already in your wallet stays free after the trial ends.
We build it, so weigh that. The honest gaps: OfferBee has no browser extension and doesn't activate issuer offers at all, so it doesn't replace CardPointers, and CardStack's effective-annual-fee calculation is presented more explicitly than our renewal verdict.
